Job Description -
Inspects the work of contractors on highway, street, bridge, conduits, water and waste water systems facilities or other minor construction projects to ensure compliance with specifications, standards and codes.
Completes reports on number of employees on a job site, amount of work performed, materials used, weather conditions, accidents on work site and equipment used.
Performs field tests on materials used such as slump test, air content test and dye test, and records results; takes samples of construction materials used and forwards samples to laboratory.
Identifies damaged conduits, documents nature of problem and facilitates locating intact conduits.
May inspect excavation and fill operations, placement of forms for concrete, concrete mixing and pouring and asphalt paving.
Draws, reads and interprets diagrams and sketches of inspection sites including the location of utilities and obstructions.
Maintains a daily inspection log.
Performs related work as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Minimum of 3 years experience performing construction inspection work.
Construction experience required, Electrical experience a plus.
Knowledge of concrete mixing and pouring.
Able to install, repair and remove underground electrical equipment in conduits.
Knowledge of the City codes for the use of the conduits.
Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications for electrical work.
Ability to inspect construction projects to ensure compliance with construction specifications, standards and codes.
Ability to draw, read and interpret diagrams.
Ability to complete routine forms and reports and to maintain a daily inspection log.
Computer skills and the ability to enter and retrieve data in a database.
Ability to perform simple field tests on construction materials.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills preferred.
Must possess GED certificate or accredited high school diploma, higher education or related certification a plus.
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Proof of vaccine required. Option for weekly COVID-19 testing at employee expense.

Pay: $20.00 - $36.00 per hour
